Title: Early Dream Tech
Author: Emma Llewellyn WiEng
Publisher: not known
Source book: Early Riser by Jasper Fforde
Emma Llewellyn WiEng writes about the Somnograph, a device invented by Thomas Edison to record the content of a dream. She tells us that Edison’s machine would not have been possible without the pioneering work of French scientist Gaston Tournesol. I am not sure I would want the content of some of my dreams recorded: the awful nightmares about not being able to find any shoes, or the worse ones about Christmas parties…
In a world where most people just hibernate through the winter, Ms WiEng has also written The Elegant Simplicity of WinterTech. She is obviously an expert.
She tells us that night porters liked to use bioluminescent lights fuelled by plankton.
Meanwhile, Ronald Fudge has written HiberTech: A Short History. HiberTech is a company looking to alleviate the occasional side effects of hibernation and I am sure there are many.
