Raphael’s Walrus is a book that hasn’t been read for a while. It’s possible that it’s a speculative sort of a fantasy novel. Maybe. And if nobody is reading this book something awful may happen. After all, if nobody reads a book it can be completely forgotten and we won’t even be able to find a copy in a dusty old second hand bookshop.
Unfortunately that seems to be that. What we aren’t told about Raphael’s Walrus could fill… what? A pint jug? A jumbo jet? An Olympic size swimming pool? Wales? Or maybe just a teaspoon.
Which walrus anyway? And who is Raphael?
Raphael’s Walrus is gone from the BookWorld and is replaced by a different book called Castle of Skeddan Jiarg. It’s not very well written. The great hall looks impressive, with lime-washed walls and flaming torches, but some of the smaller props are simply a post-it note with ‘bowl of fruit’ written on it. It has goblins. And not a very snappy title. How long do we think it will last?
Perhaps longer than we imagine, because a party is held there on page 105. If people enjoy their surroundings at the party, perhaps the book will last longer than expected.
Don’t tell me this is weird. It’s all based on a weird book.
