Wannabe Euro MP Fintan MacEntee, former member of the Irish Republican Front, has written a book in which he claims the IRF had no part in the abduction and mysterious disappearance of Barbara Linden Warner in 1983.

Barbara went missing following a party and her wealthy arms dealer father received a ransom demand, so everyone assumed she had been kidnapped. The ransom was paid but Barbara never reappeared. In his book Fintan MacEntee writes that the IRF claimed responsibility for the kidnapping (to gain publicity), but in truth had nothing to do with it. They only sent the ransom note to gain publicity.

The New Tricks team naturally uncover the truth, and perhaps Fintan MacEntee succeeds in his bid to become an MEP.

Remember this episode of New Tricks was written long before Brexit. And if you are interested in Northern Irish history or politics, Wikipedia might be a good place to start. But it’s a complicated subject.
