A character in Magnum PI who we hear an awful lot about, but never meet, is the famous Robin Masters. Robin is the super rich, mega famous, bestselling author who owns The Estate where Magnum lives rent free as a security consultant or something. We learn Robin is the author of the bestselling White Knight series. It’s good to have a series. Readers like to find out more about their favourite characters. Or even their least favourite characters. 

Robin’s first book is White Knight: Queen’s Gambit. 

Other books by Robin are White Knight: Secret State, 

White Knight: Red Day, 

White Knight: Phoenix Rising, and 

White Knight: Silver Belle. And there is also a suggestion that White Knight: Under Siege would be a good title (but oh dear, does that conjure up images of Steven Seagal as a US Navy chef?)

These are all military adventures, which I believe are extremely popular IRL, and based on Robin’s experiences when he was a journalist embedded with a US army unit in Iraq, and the exploits of his friends in the unit feature largely in his books. 

I used to know a journalist who had been embedded with an army unit in Afghanistan. He was awfully pleased with himself, and not always very nice to his mother. Last I looked he has failed to write a series of bestselling novels. Still, I suppose there’s time yet.
