Jessica Fletcher is worrying about her editor Edward Graham’s strange mood swings, and his very odd change of opinion about her new book. One minute her new manuscript for Stone Cold Dead on Wall Street is perfect, the next it’s hardly worth his consideration. Very soon he has committed suicide. Or has he? Of course not. Don’t even ask, and obviously Jessica investigates.

Carrie Benton works for Hartley Publishing, and the new book that she’s editing, Pig on Roller Skates,  gets the go ahead. It seems to be a sequel. Sadly we don’t know what her original book was called. Presumably something about a pig. And we don’t know anything about the plot of this book … except there’s a pig on roller skates and it’s basically the same plot as the first book. Pigs are popular with small children. I think this sounds like a successful series. Pigs might surf or paddle board, pigs might take a train or climb mountains… pigs might attempt the Cresta Run, pigs might fly.

When we see the book, the author appears to be called Arnold Watters, but when Carrie talks to him on the phone she calls him Walter. I think. I will try to watch this episode again to clarify this.

In Carrie’s office we see a poster for The Tiger in the Taxi.

It turns out that when Edward dies, Carrie is left a house in Connecticut. No he didn’t kill himself, yes he was murdered by his ghastly therapist Dr Santana, and no the nasty doctor doesn’t get away with it. The false niece who turned up recently turns out not to be a niece and quite fails to inherit a large fortune.
