Title: Put Not Your Trust
Author: Baird Archer
Publisher: not known
Source book: Murder by the Book by Rex Stout (Nero Wolfe #19)
So, let’s see. Erm… well this is an extremely convoluted book. It features a clerk for a law partnership found dead in the East River; a young woman who was a reader for a firm of publishers until she was killed in a hit and run; and there’s a law firm where one of the partners was disbarred for bribing a jury foreman to fix a trial. And a staged suicide. Wait a bit, I’ve got confused… who got thrown out of a window?
And then, ah ha! We discover that Baird Archer is a nom de plume used by Leonard Dykes - the clerk in the East River. But… oh dear, as I said, it’s all exhaustingly complicated.
However, here we have Put Not Your Trust by Baird Archer (Leonard Dykes), and it’s a book about the lawyer that bribed the jury man. Obviously it’s a book with a message.
Also mentioned Twilight of the Absolute but there’s no author.
