Title: On the Nature of Plants
Author: Orinjcrate
Publisher: not known
Source book: Small Gods by Terry Pratchett (Discworld #13)
Before it unfortunately burned down, the Library at Ephebe was the second largest library in the Discworld. It contained 400 or 500 volumes, many of them scrolls.
In the catalogue was On Religion by Abraxas who had researched his book in the desert, talking to the small gods. He had been struck by lightning fifteen times.
Also in the Library were Reflections by Xeno;
Platitudes by Aristocrates;
Discourses by Ibid;
Geometries by Legibus and
Theologies by Hierach.
And the beautifully illustrated On The Nature of Plants by Orinjcrate, 600 plants and their uses apparently;
Philo’s Bestiary with dozens of pictures of animals;
Didactylos’s book De Chelonian Mobile and
Dykeri’s Principles of Navigation.
All burnt to ash.
Unfortunately priests from some of the more extreme religions don’t like books that teach people things that don’t fit their view of the world. Quite a few politicians are like that too. So books get burned. And cancelled and banned. Be absolutely sure: this is wrong.
