Title: Hobby Geneticists, the new Dr Frankensteins
Author: Ronald Frick
Publisher: not known
Source book: The Woman Who Died a Lot by Jasper Fforde (Thursday Next #7)
In the world of Thursday Next easy peasy kitchen or garden shed cloning is a regular thing. Remember that Thursday built her own dodo, Pickwick.
Ronald Frick’s book tells us about the hobby geneticists who have gone further than just building a dodo. Apparently they build whatever takes their fancy. One in particular going so far as to create a centaur out of spare parts. Perhaps it’s better not to ask spare parts of what?
Stig, a Neanderthal, himself genetically recreated as an experiment, hates the ‘Gene Hackmen’ chimera creators with a passion and swiftly dispatched the poor centaur. Stig, short for Stiggins, works (worked) for SO-13 and chimeras fall under their remit.
