Title: Tuesday Next - The Early Notions

Author: Gordon von Squid

Publisher: not known

Source book: The Woman Who Died a Lot by Jasper Fforde (Thursday Next #7)

Tuesday Next, only daughter of the world famous Thursday Next and the renowned author Landen Parke-Laine (she has a brother, Friday, and an imaginary sister, Jenny), has a remarkable scientific talent. While still at school she takes on the not so small task of saving the world from the Smitings.

Tuesday has many novel inventions to her name. Not all of them useful, some of them quite dangerous. It’s quite hard to tell if Tuesday actually does any schoolwork. She seems so absorbed in saving the world. As, I suppose, one would be.

Hands up anyone who has an imaginary brother or sister? My mother was absolutely convinced I had an imaginary friend. She was called Irene (pronounced Ireen), but my mother had only ever heard the name pronounced Ireenee, so she thought I had invented Ireen. Not very trusting of her. Irene was a girl in my class at school but the only thing I can remember about her, 60 years later, is that my mother didn’t believe she existed.

And does anyone know who Gordon von Squid is?
