Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with a forward by Albus Dumbledore, is a first year course book for the students at Hogwarts, and it’s also a book in real life. And a film. And you can buy the screenplay as a book. Newt Scamander, the author of the book, is a character in the film.
There’s a sequel to the film called Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, with a possible third film to be released in 2022…or not. Whenever you read this I am writing in June 2021 so you know… things change.
And featuring in the actual book Fantastic Beasts are The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why Muggles Prefer Not to Know by Professor Mordicus Egg, Muggles Who Notice by Blenheim Stalk, Why I Didn’t Die When the Augury Cried by Gulliver Pokeby and Hairy Snout, Human Heart published anonymously. There’s reference to an untitled book by Flavius Belby about a Lethifold attack, and the International Code of Wizarding Secrecy adopted by the International Confederation of Wizards in 1750 gets a mention.
