What Binds the Departed to Us? was the first book published by Tom Rotwell and Marissa Fittes. They were the pioneers who first investigated the Problem (with a capital P), the plague of dangerous ghosts which has attacked Britain for the last 50 years.

It the book Rotwell and Fittes expound their theories that certain objects connected to violent crimes might become ‘physically charged’ and so act as a source or gateway for supernatural activity.

Also mentioned in The Whispering Skull is Pooter’s History of London Graveyards. It features a chapter on medieval burials written by dedicated researcher Albert Joplin so it seems to be a collection of essays. Unfortunately, having researched something he really shouldn’t have, Albert Joplin comes to an extremely sticky end. And serve him right.
