Dead.... well, trying hard to be dead, wizard Windle Poons (wizards always know when they’re going to die, as do witches) searches the library of Unseen University to try and find information about the mysterious snow globes and shopping trolleys that are suddenly appearing in Ankh-Morpork. Eventually he finds a reference to “little carts... none knew from where they came.. of such great use, men were employed to herd them and bring them inside the city...” in this Believe-It-Or-Not Grimoire.
He also wants to know why he isn’t dead.
Eventually Windle Poons is able to die (and doesn’t have to dig himself up from his own grave again), but first he saves his city from a sinister invader, or is it a predator? A shopping centre.
