Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie by Mabel Syrup

Title: Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie

Author: Mabel Syrup (possibly)

Publisher: Not known

Source book: Calvin and Hobbes comic strip by Bill Watterson

Calvin doesn’t like the sound of Hamster Huey to start off with: it hasn’t been made into an animated TV show. However, before long Calvin is obsessed and isn’t interested in any other bedtime story.

We never find out what happens in Hamster Huey. Bill Watterson is on the record saying the plot is deliberately kept a mystery. Apparently he never allowed a plush Hobbes to be manufactured (imagine the revenue from merch like that) because whatever the adults think, Hobbes might be a real tiger. You don’t want to cause an existential crisis with a plush tiger.
The sequel, definitely by Mabel Syrup, is Commander Coriander Salamander and 'Er Singlehander Bellylander. At least, that's what Calvin says.

Don’t let’s even think about the Disembodied Hand that Strangles People.
Many thanks to the fabulous Calvin and Hobbes. If you don’t know them you really really ought to give them a try.
